Super Cute Kitchen Counter Coffee Bar Ideas
1. Pick a color scheme or theme
One of the first things you want to do is pick a color scheme or even a theme that you want to keep in mind while you design your coffee bar. Maybe you’re partial to an elegant white and black or if you’re into the whole Friends theme that is super cute. Whatever it is, take it and make sure you start with that when you’re adding your details.
2. Glass containers
The next item that you need is something cute and aesthetic to put all your extras in. It doesn’t matter if you have coffee beans, grounds, or pods, a few cute glass jars with some labeling can make any of those a perfect addition to your kitchen counter coffee bar. There are plenty of different options, but if you have coffee grounds or beans, you need to be careful to buy something air-tight to lock in that freshness. With pods on the other hand, you have a lot more freedom.
3. Coffee cup hangers
No coffee bar setup is complete without a place to hold your mugs. There are so many different options to choose from, and you don’t have to show off all your mugs, just the cute ones, or whatever goes with your color scheme or aesthetic. There is no shame in using a few mugs that you actually never use for decorative purposes and keep the mugs you truly use in a drawer or cabinet somewhere – they’ll never know!
4. Coffee pod sleeves
If you typically go the coffee pod route, then these are a perfect suggestion for you! You can either put them in a drawer if you have one right under your kitchen counter or you could opt to use one of those mesh metal racks and put the sleeve in there. Regardless, it’s such a cute way to hold all your coffee pods as well as being super easy to grab in the morning. It can be frustrating to fight with a glass top that’s suctioned to the top of your glass jar just to grab your coffee pod.
5. Pre-labeled containers
You know exactly what I’m talking about when I’m referencing the pre-labeled containers that you can get at your local home goods store. They definitely have some of the cutest containers that would go perfect with almost any color scheme or theme. They even usually sell different ones to go with each holiday and each season if you’re the type of girly that likes to change out their decor depending on the time of year.
6. Coffee bar shelf
Another great piece to add to your kitchen counter coffee bar is a small coffee bar shelf. This is a great item to organize all of your little extras like your sugars, syrups, utensils, and really anything else you typically put in your coffee that doesn’t have to be refrigerated. There are a lot of different options that you can choose from, but you can also just get a nice, cheaper one from Amazon as well. Again, whatever fits for your space!
7. Floating shelves
Depending on the size of your kitchen counter and what you can fit, floating shelves are a great idea if you have more wall space and less counter space. You can add all of your extras on these floating shelves as well as any glasses and mugs that you typically use for your daily coffee. An important thing to keep in mind is that these need to be sturdy enough to hold what you need for coffee, especially if you’re adding something heavy like large glass mugs and containers of ground coffee. We definitely don’t want that falling and breaking.
8. Cake stand
Another cute addition to your kitchen counter coffee bar would be a cake stand. Even though they are technically called cake stands, they are meant for any kind of baked good that you would want to drink your coffee with: croissants, muffins, cupcakes, etc. It’s also totally okay if you’re a healthy girly and drink your coffee with a hearty bowl of oatmeal or some eggs. There’s nothing wrong with keeping some baked goods handy for a guest, your kids, or even just decoration.
9. Cookie jar
If you’re not into the cake stand and would rather have a place to display some cookies instead, then a cookie jar would be perfect for you. Sometimes people are into the aesthetics of it and less the actual eating of the cookies, and that’s totally okay! You could stack your cookies in a specific way like Khloe Kardashian does in her own kitchen if that’s your thing. If you haven’t seen it, the picture above is a really good example. Personally, a jar of cookies never lasts long in my house, so the aesthetic cookie stacking wouldn’t work for me.
10. Chalkboard
If you’re really into the vibes of a coffee house, then this is a great idea to try to capture some of that for your own coffee bar. You know exactly what I’m talking about with how they write their menu on a chalkboard, or even have a funny quote or saying on a chalkboard in front of the storefront. Be creative as you want with your own coffee bar. Additionally, if you don’t have room for a chalkboard, you could always opt for a peel-and-stick chalkboard piece that you could easily adhere to the wall instead.
11. Signs
Whatever your vibe is, no coffee bar is complete without a little sign. It doesn’t matter if it’s hanging on the wall or propped up against the coffee machine, choose whatever fits the mood that you want while enjoying your coffee. There are plenty of already made signs, especially at your local home goods store, if that’s what you’re into. I would suggest checking out Etsy as well if you want to support a small business. They have so many creative options on there, so you would definitely find something!
12. LED lighting strips
If you don’t have the best lighting in your kitchen or if you’re one of those people who love to have their morning coffee in a little softer light, using LED lighting strips is the perfect option for you. These are super easy to put on and work with. The best area to put them are to hide them right on along the edges of the kitchen counter or above the coffee bar. My favorites are the ones where you can adjust the color based on how you’re feeling or depending on the season. If you’re looking to have a certain theme or color scheme, definitely invest in some lighting strips to add to that!
13. Tray
If you’re not into shelving or containers, or you just don’t have enough space for all of that, another option to dress up your coffee bar is a functional decor piece like a tray. It’s a cute way to appear more organized than you actually are. These are also perfect for when you really don’t have that many accessories, so it doesn’t warrant an entire shelf or multiple containers.
14. Peel and stick backsplash
If you’re not into the chalkboard peel-and-stick like I mentioned above and you still want to add a little bit of a personal touch to your kitchen counter coffee bar, then a peel-and-stick backsplash could be perfect for you. I know a lot of you must have beautiful backsplashes that you may not want to mess with, but having a peel-and-stick is not only a cheaper option, but also a temporary one if you want to decorate with the seasons without messing up the original backsplash. There are so many great options online that you can definitely find one that goes with your color scheme or theme.
15. Remember, embrace the season!
One of the best ways to go about decorating your coffee bar, whether it be what kind of mugs you’re using or even what kind of coffee flavor you’re drinking, is to go with the season! If you’re able to do it, you should treat your coffee bar like just another part of the house that you should decorate depending on the season. Grab some pumpkin spice donuts for fall or some Valentine’s Day decor in February and so on. It’s such a fun way to get excited about your coffee bar! In the picture above, you can see an adorable kitchen counter coffee bar decorated for Halloween.
